Lisa Puananimōhala’ikalani’s story

Sexuality: poly-pan, bi, sapio, demi-mono, queertastic 

Current home: Current transplant resident of Downtown Juneau, Lingít Aaní, Alaska

From: Raised in Phoenix metro, land of the O’Odham and Piipaash, Arizona; born in Renton, land of the Duwamish, Washington. From mixed heritage descended from Irish, Scottish, Hawaiian, Chinese, German, French, Norwegian, Welsh, Māori, and African ancestors who took steps on earth leading to my presence here.

I am inherently all gendered. I am a multidimensional, prismatic being, cosmically rooted and existing as another unique node on the interconnected web of evolving consciousness. I am not one, or another thing out of two options. I am all and both and neither and none.

The latest terms encompassing this perspective of existing, on this timeline, in this region, in my known language are suitably: they, them, per, ze. I embody my wild wombmynhood and sacred yoni goddess magick and insodoing, I embody: she, her.

It’s all in how the soul wants to ride the body. And however it is right for each unique node on a great web to do so, it’s all disco, darling. 

PHOTOGRAPHER’S NOTE:  It feels a little surreal revisiting Lisa’s photo session again after now having the chance to work with more than 170 people for this project; I met up with Lisa for photos almost TWO years ago now, and ve was one of the first dozen people in this project to chance meeting a random stranger on the internet who was just starting to work on this crazy idea.    When we met, ve had just finished a wilderness camp for women in Southeast Alaska, and enthusiastically expressed their love for connecting with nature.   At the same time, ve is also a city person so ve took a lot of joy in giving me a tour of per beloved city.   We had fun mixing multiple elements in these photos with using nature’s majestic backdrop, the old facades of a gold mining frontier, and one of Juneau’s iconic bars where Lisa finds no shortage of queer community.
