Prelaunch Page for Northern Lights, Northern Lives
All the Genders Photo Project is an ongoing LGBTQ+ activism project capturing the full spectrum of gender through portraiture and personal narratives. This work is about visibility, ensuring that gender-diverse people are seen, heard, and remembered.
Now, it’s time to bring these stories onto the pages of a book!
Help Bring This Book into the World
Northern Lights, Northern Lives: A Spectrum of Gender Across Alaska and the Yukon features 50 gender-diverse stories and portraits from Alaska and the Yukon, the place where this project began. These stories are deeply connected to land, community, and culture, including Alaska Native perspectives.
This project has already been powered by $25,000 in grassroots effort: personal savings, microgrants, small donations, and a whole lot of car camping, couch surfing, and community generosity.
Now comes the next phase: turning this work into a beautifully designed, self-published book. Professional editing, design, printing, and production all come with real costs, and that’s where your support comes in.
Why Kickstarter?
This June, a 30-day Kickstarter campaign will fund the final production of the book. By supporting the campaign, you’re not just donating, you’re pre-ordering a copy and helping these stories reach a wider audience.
Even before launch, you can make a huge impact.
👉 Create a Kickstarter account and follow the prelaunch page to:
- Get notified the moment the campaign goes live – if you miss the fundraiser preorders, more books will not be available until early 2027!
- Help boost the project in Kickstarter’s algorithm
- Get in on a limited number of photo sessions and swag bags available when the campaign goes live.
Following the project is a small action that makes a real difference, especially in a time when queer stories are often suppressed or overlooked.
Thank you for being part of bringing these stories to light.
