I have had difficulties expressing myself as long as I can remember because of my disabilities. Learning alternative visual artist ways to interpret my words and feelings have always been my goal. Now I want to see how far I can take that in life. Giving voice to voiceless illustrate those that are missing images in new and exciting ways. One of the projects on my bucket list is illustrating Emily Dickinson’s manuscript of poems. This has been a yearning of mine since I was a teenager and probably one of my queerest yearnings and earliest wants of expressions. TV and movies have always interested me and my desire now is to talk about their history and today’s society. The only way to do that is to stand up and be counted!

I am Queer and Genderqueer and I’m not going anywhere!

PHOTOGRAPHER’S NOTE: Seren gave me an excuse to take a detour up to Wheeling, West Virginia. It’s an unassuming town that is almost as far north as you can go in West Virginia – think of being sandwiched closely between Ohio and Pennsylvania. Seren speaks with absolute passion about anything they engage in, and enjoyed hearing how they meaningfully engage with the world in ways that are unique to them.
