I grew up on the edge of the working-class suburbs of St. Louis. One foot in strip malls, the other in barn yards. I did not have gender nonconforming role models growing up, and am a “late bloomer” having come out as bisexual in my late 20’s, then nonbinary and eventually pansexual in my 30’s.  My older sister is trans and our younger brother came out as bi when we were both presenting cis-het, so I take some inspiration from my family, but mostly from my friends who are unabashedly expressive of their queer selves.
